{"id":96380,"date":"2024-05-23T13:39:18","date_gmt":"2024-05-23T13:39:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelandmark.com\/?p=96380"},"modified":"2024-05-23T13:39:18","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T13:39:18","slug":"rutland-returns-incumbents-to-select-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/2024\/05\/23\/rutland-returns-incumbents-to-select-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Rutland returns incumbents to Select Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"byline\"><em>By Ken Cleveland<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Landmark Correspondent<\/em><\/div>\n<p>RUTLAND \u2014 A four-way race for two seats on the Select Board ended as the polls closed May 13 with voters sticking with incumbents Harry Sechman and Leah Whiteman.<\/p>\n<p>Sechman won with 558 votes and Whiteman with 681 votes; out of the running were Ralph Caloira Jr., collecting 287 votes, and Leroy Clark, with 386 votes.<\/p>\n<p>The five-member board, which Rutland has had for decades, was approved this year by the state Legislature, which validated the town&#8217;s longstanding practice.<\/p>\n<p>The single seat on the Wachusett Regional School District Committee was won by Brett Beardmore, with 552 votes, over Richard Randall, 407.<\/p>\n<p>The question on a debt exclusion to buy a new firetruck won 615 to 442.<\/p>\n<p>Uncontested positions were: Town Moderator, Randy Jordan, 951; Town Clerk, Anita Carlson, 977; Assessor, Jeffrey R. Gibbs, 869; Board of Health, Scott Gilroy, 871; Planning Board, Britton Bradford, 798; a second Planning Board seat to fill the remaining two years of a position, Charles Williams, with 76 write-in votes; Library Trustees, two seats, Jean Grant, 876, and Richard Lopez, 682; Southern Worcester County Regional Vocational School District Committee, Ann Marie Pantos, 852.<\/p>\n<p>The official results show 1,115 voters turned out, 15.1% of the 7,372 registered voters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ken Cleveland Landmark Correspondent RUTLAND \u2014 A four-way race for two seats on the Select Board ended as the polls closed May 13 with voters sticking with incumbents Harry Sechman and Leah Whiteman.
