John Joslin Jr. chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution DAR paid a visit to the Gale Free Library during the second week of April, in honor of National Library Week.<\/p>\n<p>They delivered thank-you kits filled with treats, muffins, and handwritten thank-you cards, a thoughtful gesture that Chapter Regent Sharon Bouchard said was a first for them. Two of the five dozen chapter members live in Holden, one of three towns in the region that they visited.<\/p>\n<p>Bouchard said they wanted to provide tokens of gratitude to the hardworking library staff members who help to provide a wide variety of services and programming to the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were surprised at first,\u201d she said of Gale library staff&#8217;s reaction. \u201cThey appreciated the gesture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bouchard went on to say that it was important for the chapter to recognize library staff during the week of April 7.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe library is a valuable resource, and we must say thank you to the people who make our libraries thrive,\u201d she said. \u201cOne of the DAR&#8217;s three pillars is education, which is in alignment with library activities, so we felt it was important to reach out and let the library staff know they are appreciated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Danielle Ray Landmark Correspondent HOLDEN \u2014 Members of the Capt.
