Ouimet was a relatively unknown 20-year-old amateur golfer and former caddie when he defeated Harry Vardon and Ted Ray at The Country Club in Brookline. He was self-taught and grew up in a modest home across from the 17th hole at TCC. Prior to his victory, golf was dominated by the Brits and Scots. There were very few players in America, virtually no public courses, and the game was confined mostly to the wealthy or elite. Ouimet’s victory changed golf in America.

As a Ouimet scholar, Fafford belongs to a lifelong Ouimet Alumni Community, with members across the U.S. The Foundation provides networking opportunities, career fairs, and internship placements as part of “Ouimet Onward.”

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

BATON ROUGE, La. — Erica Turner of Paxton, Zachary Brennan of Holden, and Ryan Beck of Sterling were recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.
