{"id":47350,"date":"2024-02-22T16:49:03","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T16:49:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelandmark.com\/?p=47350"},"modified":"2024-02-22T16:49:03","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T16:49:03","slug":"paxton-voters-ready-for-annual-caucus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/2024\/02\/22\/paxton-voters-ready-for-annual-caucus\/","title":{"rendered":"Paxton voters ready for annual caucus"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"byline\"><em>By Ken Cleveland<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Landmark Correspondent<\/em><\/div>\n<p>PAXTON \u2014 Voters are getting ready to hold the town caucus, an annual tradition that allows voters to nominate those who will run in the May town election without having to file nomination papers.<\/p>\n<p>The town caucus is scheduled for Monday, March 11, at 7 p.m. in the Paxton Center School cafeteria.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination papers were available beginning Feb. 12. The deadline to pull\/return nomination papers is 5 p.m. Monday, March. Candidates need 22 signatures of registered Paxton voters to get their names on the ballot. Nomination papers can be obtained at the town clerk&#8217;s office during normal business hours.<\/p>\n<p>Residents who want to serve the town but not as a member of an elected board can volunteer for an appointed position, with open positions listed on the town website.<\/p>\n<p>The following positions are up for election in May and will be the focus of the caucus, including length of term and incumbent:<\/p>\n<p>Select Board, one seat for three years, Julia N. Pingitore;<\/p>\n<p>Assessor, one seat for three years, Deirdre Louise Malone;<\/p>\n<p>Board of Health, one seat for three years, Thomas B. Carroll;<\/p>\n<p>Cemetery Commission, one seat for three years, Brian Brosnihan;<\/p>\n<p>Library Trustee, two seats for three years, Catherine Mary McCourt and Christopher James Isperduli;<\/p>\n<p>Library Trustee, one seat for two years for remainder of regular term, Rachel A. Stone (appointed);<\/p>\n<p>Municipal Light Board, one seat for three years, Yvette M. Orell;<\/p>\n<p>Planning Board, one seat for five years, David Richard Bloom (appointed);<\/p>\n<p>Recreation Commission, one seat for three years, Heather L. Larson; Recreation Commission, one seat for three years, Christina Marie Cormier is not running for re-election;<\/p>\n<p>Wachusett Regional School District Committee, one seat for three years, Scott Runstrom;<\/p>\n<p>Water Board, one seat for three years, David L.
