HOLDEN \u2014 Almost 1,200 people registered for the Be Like Brit Foundation’s annual 5K Turkey Trot, held Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving).<\/p>\n

Runners, strollers, canines, and costumed participants started a bit after 8 a.m., heading out on a new course this year, which began at 7 Saws Brewing Co., 12 Industrial Drive.<\/p>\n

The weather was clear and brisk, with a light wind that gusted at times, threatening to carry off the timing arch. But helpful race watchers and volunteers kept the arch on the ground, even though a few runners had to duck underneath the wavering inflatable.<\/p>\n

Family and friends cheered the participants on, and were there to encourage their last bursts of speed as they crossed the finish line.<\/p>\n
