Photography Exhibit & Fiber Arts Showcase<\/strong><\/p>\n

RUTLAND — The Rutland Free Public Library, The Friends of the Rutland Library, and Rutland’s Events Committee are hosting a photography exhibit and fiber arts showcase starting Jan. 7, 2024, and running through the end of March. Programs regarding photography and fiber arts will be held on to-be-determined Sunday afternoons. The theme of the photography exhibit is “Rutland-Then and Now.” Any color or black & white photograph, taken anytime anywhere in Rutland welcome to be displayed. You do not need to be a Rutland resident to participate as long as the photograph was taken in Rutland. Sterling holiday craft fair<\/strong><\/p>\n

STERLING — The annual Friends of the Conant Public Library Arts & Crafts Show will be held the Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Church, 6 Meetinghouse Hill Road. Items at this juried fair are handmade by local craftspeople and artists. Offerings include dish gardens and planters, soaps and body products, hand-painted wine bottles with lights, jewelry, caned chairs, wool felted trees and decorations, pottery, crocheted blankets and toys, alpaca products, knitted items, aromatherapy pillows, candles, wood bowls and ornaments, jams and jellies, pet beds, baskets, lampshades, scrolled wood, windchimes, Zen catchers, handbags and wallets, holiday ornaments, hair accessories, scarves, aprons, beach pebble and glass art, wood cutting boards and candlesticks, beeswax skin care items, wreaths, floral décor, quilted items, terrariums, watercolor paintings and Zentangle.<\/p>\n

The fair will also feature a raffle and lunch café. Wrapped cheese will be offered for sale, and a bake sale will include cookies, bars, and tea breads. Leominster Credit Union is supporting the fair as a co-sponsor for the second year in a row. The $2 admission supports programs at the Conant Public Library. Paxton calendars<\/strong><\/p>\n

PAXTON — The Paxton Historical Commission is selling calendars containing 12 archival monthly photos from Paxton’s past. Calendars are available at the Paxton Marketplace and the Senior Center and cost $10. Profits from calendar sales over the past decade helped the commission to purchase a large historic sign commemorating the life of Maj. Willard Moore, Paxton’s hero from the American Revolution.<\/p>\n

Special Fall Town Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n

RUTLAND — Rutland’s special fall town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at Glenwood Elementary School. The warrant closed <\/span>at noon Friday, Oct. 13.<\/p>\n

Group hike<\/strong><\/p>\n

RUTLAND — Exploring the Ware River Watershed, a group hike near Rutland State Park, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. Join a 4.4-mile moderate lollipop loop hike in the Ware River Watershed. The route climbs\/descends roughly 200 ft. in elevation.<\/p>\n

The hike begins\/ends on the MCRT with a loop in the middle consisting of Camel’s Hump, Long Meadow Road, and Prison Camp Road. Ticks are still active, so protection is advised, as is wearing orange during hunting season. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring water and snacks.<\/p>\n

Craft fair<\/strong><\/p>\n

RUTLAND — The Rutland Friends of the Council on Aging is sponsoring a Yuletide Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Senior\/Community Center, 53 Glenwood Road. There will be craft vendors, lunch and bake sale at affordable prices. The Friends is also looking for vendors to participate in the fair. For more information, call 508-886-7945.<\/p>\n

Wachusett Reservoir events <\/strong><\/p>\n

Programs are free and open to the public. Dogs and domestic animals are prohibited on watershed lands. Reasonable accommodations are available upon advance request.<\/p>\n

Sundays hikes in November and December, starting at 10 a.m. Get to know the Wachusett Reservoir with this series of hikes to rewarding shoreline views of this pristine drinking water supply. Hikes will be at a slow pace. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water. Hikes may be canceled or modified due to weather. Christmas Tree and Wreath sale<\/strong><\/p>\n

STERLING — Boy Scout Troop 1 Sterling will be holding its annual Christmas Tree and Wreath sale again this year. The sale will be held in the center of town. Sale hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. There may even be a visitor from the North Pole on Friday night. This spy thriller follows a retired CIA operative in small-town Maine as she tackles the ghosts of her past. Gerritsen is best known for her Rizzoli and Isles books, which have been adapted as a TNT television series, while Doiron is best known for his Mike Bowditch series.
