U.S. Sen. Peter Welch \u201869 of Vermont, a Class of 1969 alumnus, delivered this year\u2019s address to the Class of 2023 and received an honorary degree.<\/p>\n<p>Vincent D. Rougeau, president of the college, presided over the celebratory event, bestowing the honorary degrees and greeting each graduate as they crossed the stage.<\/p>\n<p>The following local students earned degrees: <b>Ebi Aliko, <\/b>magna cum laude; <b>Gillian Ballantine, <\/b>cum laude; <b>Eric Espino; James Gould; <\/b><b>Rachel Perry; <\/b>and <b>Katherine Quinn, <\/b>all of Holden. <b>Serey Kremer <\/b>of Princeton and <b>Michael Hryniewich <\/b>of Sterling.<\/p>\n<p>Clark Univ. graduates<\/p>\n<p>WORCESTER \u2014 Clark University awarded 1,300 degrees (590 bachelor\u2019s, 681 master\u2019s, and 29 doctoral degrees) to the class of 2023 and conferred three honorary degrees during its 119th commencement ceremonies on May 21. Speakers heralded the graduates for their accomplishments, and the resilience and ambition they exhibited when their college experience was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Local graduates include: Holden: <b>Clare McRae Robbins, <\/b>MPA; <b>Jesse Braith, <\/b>MA in history; <b>Hannah E. Friend, <\/b>summa cum laude, BA with highest honors in history, member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society; <b>Tristan John DeMacedo, <\/b>magna cum laude, BA in interactive media; <b>Alex E. Krikonis, <\/b>magna cum laude, BA in biology; <b>Alexis M.T. Stone, <\/b>summa cum laude, BA in psychology and sociology, member of the Fiat Lux honor society.<\/p>\n<p>Paxton: <b>Josie N. Fitzgerald, <\/b>summa cum laude, BA in philosophy; <b>Maia R. Simone, <\/b>magna cum laude, BA in psychology and studio art.<\/p>\n<p>Princeton: <b>Luke George Mazur, <\/b>summa cum laude, BA with high honors in biochemistry and molecular biology; <b>Sasha L. Cross, <\/b>BA in chemistry.<\/p>\n<p>Rutland: <b>Marta Magdalena Szemiot, <\/b>summa cum laude, BA with high honors in interactive media.<\/p>\n<p>Sterling: <b>Charlotte D. LeClair, <\/b>summa cum laude, BA in screen studies and psychology, member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society.<\/p>\n<p>Bridgewater State dean\u2019s list BRIDGEWATER \u2014 The following local residents were named to the dean\u2019s list for the spring 2023 semester at Bridgewater State University: <b>Lauren Gardner, Debbie Miller, Caroline Pupecki <\/b>and <b>Renee White <\/b>of Holden; <b>Caralyn Smith <\/b>of Jefferson; <b>Dakota Boucher <\/b>of Paxton; <b>Kiya Sahm <\/b>of Princeton; <b>Reagan Bartlett, Olivia Fournier, Sophia Hale, Meghan Morris, Trevor Nutt <\/b>and <b>Jenna Root <\/b>of Rutland; and <b>Kealey Johnson <\/b>and <b>Skye Lucier <\/b>of Sterling.<\/p>\n<p>Springfield College dean\u2019s list SPRINGFIELD \u2014 Springfield College recognizes the following local students for being named to the dean\u2019s list for academic excellence for the 2023 spring semester:<\/p>\n<p>\n        <b>Irene Gulnick, Delaney LaViolette<\/b>\n      <\/p>\n<p>and <b>Emily Tonning <\/b>of Holden; <b>Rachel Vinton <\/b>of Rutland; and <b>Sarah <\/b><b>Austin, Owen Carney <\/b>and <b>Heather LeClair <\/b>of Sterling.<\/p>\n<p>For selection to the dean\u2019s list, the student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded coursework for the term, exclusive of \u201cP\u201d grades. The student must not have any incompletes or missing grades in the designated term. The student must have a minimum semester grade average of 3.500 for the term.<\/p>\n<p>American International College dean\u2019s list<\/p>\n<p>SPRINGFIELD \u2014 <b>Graciana Drakes <\/b>of Holden, a health science major, has earned dean\u2019s list honors at American International College (AIC) for the spring 2023 semester. Dean\u2019s list honors are awarded to full-time students who have achieved a 3.3 to 4.0 GPA.<\/p>\n<p>Lasell Univ. dean\u2019s list<\/p>\n<p>NEWTON \u2014 The spring 2023 dean\u2019s list at Lasell University includes students who have completed at least 12 credits as a full-time student in that semester and have achieved a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. The list includes local students <b>Madeline Leung <\/b>of Holden and <b>Jamie Quinn <\/b>of Rutland.<\/p>\n<p>Quinn presents at Lasell symposium<\/p>\n<p>NEWTON \u2014 <b>Jamie Quinn, <\/b>a Lasell University student from Rutland, participated in the institution\u2019s annual Connected Learning Symposium in April.
