{"id":43896,"date":"2023-05-09T12:05:47","date_gmt":"2023-05-09T16:05:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelandmark.com\/?p=43896"},"modified":"2023-05-09T12:05:47","modified_gmt":"2023-05-09T16:05:47","slug":"curran-wins-rematch-write-in-joins-wrsd-school-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/2023\/05\/09\/curran-wins-rematch-write-in-joins-wrsd-school-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Curran wins rematch; write-in joins WRSD School Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Ken Cleveland<br \/><em>Landmark Correspondent<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HOLDEN &#8211; In a rematch from last year, Thomas Curran and Stephen Cooley vied for a seat on the the Board of Selectmen in the May 8 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-year seat was won by Curran, with a vote tally of 1,462, over Cooley, who garnered 935 votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a September 2022 special election, Curran had won election for the final year of a seat that opened on the board due to resignation, defeating Cooley 2,159 to 1,174.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The race was the only contest on the printed Holden ballot, but a write-in effort was successful in the Wachusett Regional School District School Committee race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With two seats available for three-year terms up for election on the committee, Laura M. Kirshenbaum (1,427) won as well as write-in candidate Shannon Poole (1,260), with Judith Newton (955) polling last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other positions on the ballot included Daniel Nason (1,565 votes) for moderator, a one-year position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russell John Dye (1329) and Kenneth V. Mills (1184) filled the two three-year terms as Trustees of Damon Memorial, while Michael E.
