Like many of you who are parents, we strive to do what is best for our children to help shape them into kind, considerate and productive human beings.

From an early age, I have worked with children and know very well that our schools are where they make their first friends, and are exposed to their first “real world” experience of community. School is the place where they develop the most important skills that ultimately outline who they will become as adults.

Throughout the last several years, we endured the pandemic’s effect on education firsthand with our children, as did many of you. I hope to represent that collective experience by ensuring our schools sustain the resources they need to support our students with their academic recovery. The primary duty of the school committee is to oversee the operation and management of the school district while evaluating the strategic direction put forth by the superintendent. We must assure our students’ needs are at the forefront of all that work. Their future depends on it.

I am hopeful that the changes in administration will set our district on a clear path. I am eager for the opportunity, if elected, to work alongside Dr. Reilly, other members of the committee, and stakeholders to guide its success.

Most importantly, I am committed to working with those who know their child(ren) best: their parents. I promise to be a voice for all parents and work as a liaison to advocate for their child(ren)’s needs.

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Westfield State College and have spent many years of my career working on complex projects within the construction industry, health and human services sector, and currently public administration. I believe my eclectic experience provides a unique perspective that is invaluable to the school committee. I fully understand the value of transparency and accountability in decision-making.

I humbly ask for your vote on May 8, so that together, we can ensure that our schools provide the best possible opportunities for all children.

Name, age, hometown: Jamie Winters, 37, Sterling Position sought: Representative to the Wachusett Regional School District I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for Sterling representative to the Wachusett Regional School District School Committee.
