{"id":43530,"date":"2023-04-20T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-20T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelandmark.com\/?p=43530"},"modified":"2023-04-20T06:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-04-20T10:00:00","slug":"rutland-signs-new-ta-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/2023\/04\/20\/rutland-signs-new-ta-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"Rutland signs new TA contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"byline\">By Ken Cleveland <i>Landmark Correspondent<\/i><\/div>\n<p>RUTLAND It\u2019s official: Austin Cyganiewicz has taken the reins as Rutland\u2019s new town administrator.<\/p>\n<p>The Select Board April 3 followed up its earlier selection for the position and voted to sign the contract, with Cyganiewicz starting April 18.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the meantime, you\u2019ll see me around,\u201d Cyganiewicz said, noting he planned to attend the budget info sessions at the Rutland Free Library on April 16.<\/p>\n<p>Regular sessions are planned at the library on the town budget to provide information for residents, running from 1 to 3 p.m. each Sunday until the Saturday, May 6, annual town meeting. At that legislative session, voters will decide the town budget. That could include an override vote that would then have to be approved at the annual town election on May 8.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am really excited,\u201d Cyganiewicz said, noting that night was his last select board meeting in Acton, where he is leaving a position as director of intergovernmental affairs in the town manager\u2019s office to take the Rutland post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to this opportunity, looking forward to working with you,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is a wonderful community. I couldn\u2019t be prouder to have this wonderful opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Select Board member Leah Whiteman said that Cyganiewicz was \u201ceasy to work with in negotiations. I appreciate that, so I have confidence going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to have you on board once we sign it,\u201d Chairman Lyndon Nichols said of the threeyear contract, which calls for a $126,000 salary for the first year with 2% increases each year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood luck,\u201d Nichols said to laughs from the attendees. \u201cHe didn\u2019t sign it yet,\u201d Nichols noted at that point, but added, \u201cIt\u2019s a good town, getting better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cyganiewicz and Nichols then signed the contract, although it was not completely official until the clerk and town accountant signed it later in the week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>  RUTLAND It\u2019s official: Austin Cyganiewicz has taken the reins as Rutland\u2019s new town administrator.
