HOLDEN \u2014 A Board of Selectmen rematch awaits.<\/p>\n

Voters preparing for their annual trip to the polls\u2014or using the mail-in option\u2014to participate in the town democracy should mark their calendars and make a choice.<\/p>\n

The town election is Monday, May 8, but voters using the mail-in option can drop off or mail in their ballots until May 5. Mail-in applications are available on the town website.<\/p>\n

The town meeting is one week later, on May 15.<\/p>\n

The ballot this year includes one contest: for the Board of Selectmen.<\/p>\n

Thomas Curran and Stephen Cooley are vying for the single three-year term, with Curran as the incumbent, having won election for the final year of a seat that opened due to resignation.<\/p>\n

The race is a rematch from the September 2022 special election, which Curran won over Cooley, 2,159 to 1,174.<\/p>\n

The two have candidate announcements on page A2 of this issue of The Landmark, which will also appear online.<\/p>\n

The other positions on the ballot are: Moderator, one seat for one year, with Daniel Nason seeking the position recently held by Joe Sullivan; Trustees of Damon Memorial, two seats for three-year terms, Russell John Dye and Kenneth V. Mills; Wachusett Regional School District Committee, two seats for three-year terms, Laura M. Kirshenbaum and Judith Newton; Holden Housing Authority, one seat for a five-year term, Michael E. Seiss.<\/p>\n

Polling locations vary by precinct: Precincts 1 and 2 vote at the Senior Center, 1130 Main St.; Precincts 3 and 6 at the Davis Hill School, 80 Jamieson Road (use the Highland Street entrance); and Precincts 4 and 5 at the Mountview School, 270 Shrewsbury St.<\/p>\n

The town recently added a sixth precinct, changing some of the locations. To confirm the proper voting location, a voter can check the Secretary of State\u2019s website or call the town clerk\u2019s Office at 508-210-5530.<\/p>\n

On May 8, the polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

A voter can track a mail-in ballot at http :\/\/www.trackmyballotma.com.<\/p>\n

The annual town meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 15, at the Wachusett Regional High School auditorium. Voters may check in as early as 6 p.m. for the meeting, which starts at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
