News of available scholarships will be posted online and listed in the print edition of The Landmark as space allows.<\/p>\n<p>Oriol Foundation memorial<\/p>\n<p>HOLDEN <b>\u2014 <\/b>The Oriol Foundation, a nonprofit organization created by the Oriol family, is proud to offer the Eugene L. Oriol Memorial Scholarship to the Wachusett community. This $1,000 scholarship will be offered to any graduating senior in the Wachusett district towns, as well as Boylston and West Boylston, who will be pursuing a degree in health care.<\/p>\n<p>Eugene Oriol was the founder and first administrator of Holden Nursing Home. Applications may be obtained by visiting our website at www.oriolhealthcare. com under the Oriol Foundation tab or by emailing scholarship@ oriolhealthcare. com. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The Oriol Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, but not limited to, enriching the lives of those who deliver this care; to promote wellness and stimulate innovations in health care so all may live more independently and safely wherever they call home in the Wachusett community.<\/p>\n<p>Holden Woman\u2019s Club HOLDEN \u2014 The Holden Woman\u2019s Club has announced that applications are available for its 2023 scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>This year the organization will be awarding two scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, to two graduating high school seniors. Applicants must be residents of Holden, or a child or grandchild of a Holden Woman\u2019s Club member, and must plan to attend an institution of higher learning.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are available at the guidance office of Wachusett Regional High School, at the reference desk at the Gale Free Library, or by emailing carrollmaryjane2@ gmail.com.<\/p>\n<p>Greater Worcester Community Foundation WORCESTER \u2014 The Greater Worcester Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it is now accepting scholarship applications for high school seniors who live in Worcester County and are seeking college scholarships through the 2023-2024 academic year.<\/p>\n<p>For more than four decades, GWCF has not only impacted the lives of nearly 10,000 aspiring students by awarding scholarships funded by the generosity of individuals, families and businesses in the community, but has made a conscious effort to invest in the future of Central Massachusetts. As one application opens the door to more than 140 scholarships that can be redeemed across dozens of colleges and universities throughout the region, many of these students end up living, working and creating positive change within the cities and neighborhoods in which they receive their education.<\/p>\n<p>Last year more than $754,000 was awarded to 401 recipients.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its 45th year of awarding college scholarships, awards ranging from $300 to $5,000 will be made to students based on a wide variety of criteria including need, merit, career goals and activity involvement. Students may apply online at greaterworcester. org. Scholarship applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Recipients will be announced in July 2023. For more information, contact Jacob Vazquez, philanthropy officer, scholarship, at jvazquez@greaterworcester. org.<\/p>\n<p>Miss Worcester County<\/p>\n<p>The Miss Worcester County Scholarship Organization will hold its 2023 competition Feb. 18 at the Northbridge Town Hall, and is now accepting candidates. A new Miss Worcester County, Miss Blackstone Valley and Miss Worcester County\u2019s Outstanding Teen will be crowned, as well as the first Miss Blackstone Valley\u2019s Outstanding Teen. The competition is a local preliminary to the Miss Massachusetts and Miss America competitions.<\/p>\n<p>Winners will receive scholarships for higher education or other educational endeavors, as well as the opportunity to compete at the Miss Massachusetts competition in July, for the chance to win an additional $12,000 in scholarships. The new Miss Worcester County\u2019s Outstanding Teen and Miss Blackstone Valley\u2019s Outstanding Teen will compete for the title of Miss Massachusetts\u2019 Outstanding Teen in May. Teens between the ages of 13-18 are encouraged to compete for the Miss Worcester County\u2019s Outstanding Teen and Miss Blackstone Valley\u2019s Outstanding Teen titles, and women between the ages of 18-25 are encouraged to take part in the Miss program. Phases of competition include the private interview with a panel of judges, on-stage question, evening gown\/social impact statement and talent. The teen competition also includes a lifestyle and wellness phase of competition. Every participant is eligible for scholarships through the Miss America Organization.<\/p>\n<p>The new titleholders will also be taking part in community events, parades, networking and social advocacy, per their own social impact initiatives, throughout the year.
