{"id":41667,"date":"2022-12-15T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelandmark.com\/?p=41667"},"modified":"2022-12-15T06:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T11:00:00","slug":"caldwell-gets-high-grades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/2022\/12\/15\/caldwell-gets-high-grades\/","title":{"rendered":"Caldwell gets high grades"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"byline\"><b>By Jan Gottesman <\/b><br \/>\n        <i>The Item<\/i><\/div>\n<p>STERLING \u2014 Six months into his job, Town Administrator Bill Caldwell got praise from the Select Board for how he is doing his work.<\/p>\n<p>John Kilcoyne said at a recent meeting of the Select Board that he marked Caldwell mostly above average to excellent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we made an excellent decision with you Bill and I hope you feel the same way about Sterling,\u201d Kilcoyne said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love your interaction with staff across town,\u201d Select Board Chairman Maureen Cranson said. \u201cI love your \u2018let\u2019s get it done\u2019 attitude.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Select Board member David Smith echoed his fellow board members\u2019 comments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe number one thing we ask ourselves when we hire someone is, \u2018Are they a good fit?\u2019 And, Bill is a good fit,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>In other business:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The tax rate was finalized at $14.30 per $1,000 valuation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Select Board approved an agricultural conservation restriction for the Padula\/Sterling Realty property at 146 North Row Road.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 An earth removal permit for 69 Leominster Road, the Amorello gravel pit, was approved.
