Due to Covid-19, donations of toys must be only new and unopened items. Also, please donate toys before Friday, Dec. 16, as the toys must remain quarantined for a week. The deadline for all donations is Sunday, Dec. 18.<\/p>\n<p>Toys can be dropped off at the Sterling Fire Department, Blue Dingo Dogs, Sterling nursery, Sterling Library, Village green, and NV Fitness Sterling. Check\/cash donations can be sent to 80 Maple St., Sterling, MA 01564. Checks should be made out to Elizabeth Todorov Toy Drive.<\/p>\n<p>The drive is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization. Find us on Facebook at Elizabeth TodorovToyDrive.<\/p>\n<p><b>Project <\/b><b>Warm-Up<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b> <\/b>STERLING \u2014 The Hiram O. Taylor Post 189 of the American Legion, in conjunction with Project Warm-Up, has started the annual drive to collect items to be packed in backpacks and distributed homeless and in need veterans. Last year\u2019s drive resulted in the distribution of goods valued at $15,000, all made possible with the generous support of our donors.<\/p>\n<p>Items needed: new or slightly used backpacks, sweatshirts and sweatpants, new heavy socks, heavy gloves, hats, long johns top and bottom; ponchos and 50 gallon trash bags for protection from the weather and hand and foot warmers; trial\/ travel size hand sanitizer, soap, lotion, toothbrushes and toothpaste; $5-$10 gift cards for Dunkin\u2019 or Panera. This allows them to get something warm to eat and drink and to use the restrooms.<\/p>\n<p>Holiday greetings and words of encouragement are always appreciated. Items\/donations will be accepted through mid-January.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like us to do the shopping you can send a check with \u201cVets Christmas\u201d in the memo. Admission is free, and there is plenty of free parking around and near the common.<\/p>\n<p><b>Living Nativity at Mesa Farm<\/b><\/p>\n<p>RUTLAND \u2014 A Living NativitywillbeheldatMesa Farm, 67 Muschopauge Road, on Dec. 10 and 11. Performances will be held each day at 4 and 5:30 p.m. The 40-minute shows will consist of carol singing and a narration and re-enactment of the nativity story in a barn with live animals. There will be no charge, although attendees are requested to bring a plate of cookies to share and will have the opportunity to give donations to support equestrian programs at Mesa Farm through the nonprofit organization City to Saddle. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring water. In the case of inclement weather, hikes may be canceled or modified. Parking at the intersection of South Meadow Road and Route 110. About 2.3 miles round trip to the Wachusett Dam and back. About 2 miles to the shore of Horseshoe Cove and back.<\/p>\n<p><b>Grange supper<\/b><\/p>\n<p>STERLING \u2014 Sterling Grange is holding a public supper on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Sterling Senior Center, 36 Muddy Pond Road, at 5:30 p.m. Ham, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, tossed salad, and brownie and ice cream will be served. Cost is $15 for adults, $8 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and younger. Proceeds will benefit the Grange Hall Renovation Fund and community service projects.
