Sign up for the 2022 Holden Turkey Trot at www.BeLikeBrit. org\/2022TurkeyTrot. The run will be held Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 24, starting at 8 a.m. at the Big Y parking lot on Reservoir Street. The entry fee is $33. T-shirts will be given out to the first 700 runners to pick up their bibs at the Be Like Brit office, 66 Pullman St., Worcester.<\/p>\n<p>Prizes: $100 will go to the 1st place female and male runner regardless of age. The top female and male in each age group will receive a $10 Walgreen\u2019s of Holden gift card; and the person who makes sure everyone else crossed the finish line before them (aka last), will receive a $20 Dunkin\u2019 gift card.<\/p>\n<p>Project Warm-Up<\/p>\n<p>STERLING \u2014 The Hiram O. Taylor Post 189 of the American Legion, in conjunction with Project Warm-Up, has started the annual drive to collect items to be packed in backpacks and distributed homeless and in need veterans. Last year\u2019s drive resulted in the distribution of goods valued at $15,000, all made possible with the generous support of our donors.<\/p>\n<p>Items needed: new or slightly used backpacks, sweatshirts and sweatpants, new heavy socks, heavy gloves, hats, long johns top and bottom; ponchos and 50 gallon trash bags for protection from the weather and hand and foot warmers; trial\/ travel size hand sanitizer, soap, lotion, toothbrushes and toothpaste; $5-$10 gift cards for Dunkin\u2019 or Panera. This allows them to get something warm to eat and drink and to use the restrooms.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to add holiday greetings and words of encouragement, they are always appreciated. Items\/ donations will be accepted through mid-January.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like us to do the shopping you can send a check with \u201cVets Christmas\u201d in the memo. Admission is free, and there is plenty of free parking around and near the common.<\/p>\n<p>Living Nativity<\/p>\n<p>RUTLAND \u2014 A Living Nativity will be held at Mesa Farm, 67 Muschopauge Road, Dec. 10 and 11. Performances will be held each evening at 4 and 5:30 p.m. The 40-minute shows will consist of carol singing and a narration and re-enactment of the nativity story in a barn with live animals. There will be no charge, although attendees are requested to bring a plate of cookies to share and will have the opportunity to give donations to support equestrian programs at Mesa Farm through the nonprofit organization City to Saddle. Hot chocolate and coffee will be provided. Saturday performances will have sign language interpretation.
