{"id":41403,"date":"2022-11-17T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-17T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thelandmark.com\/?p=41403"},"modified":"2022-11-17T06:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-11-17T11:00:00","slug":"holden-voters-approve-debt-exclusion-for-dawson-recreation-expansion-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/2022\/11\/17\/holden-voters-approve-debt-exclusion-for-dawson-recreation-expansion-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Holden voters approve debt exclusion for Dawson recreation expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"byline\">By Ken Cleveland <i>Landmark Correspondent<\/i><\/div>\n<p>HOLDEN &#8211; At the general election Nov. 8, town voters decided to fund a project to expand recreational facilities from fields to trails.<\/p>\n<p>The tally followed voting at the town meeting in October that approved spending for the planned Dawson area recreational expansion by the needed two-thirds majority.<\/p>\n<p>But it was up to voters who turned out for the Nov. 8 election to give final approval for the the debt exclusion that would provide the funds.<\/p>\n<p>With 9,262 voters participating in the vote, the measure passed with 5,222 in support and 3,644 opposed.<\/p>\n<p>The vote allows the town to move forward with an estimated $5 million borrowing on the $7.7 million project.<\/p>\n<p>It would expand the existing recreation facilities, adding athletic fields and other infrastructure and upgrading existing facilities, including the playground.<\/p>\n<p>The debt exclusion allows for borrowing above Proposition<\/p>\n<p><i>2 [ <\/i><i>h <\/i>limitations for a limited time; when the project loan is paid off, the extra taxes would go away.<\/p>\n<p>The project would cost the average household, with a home valued at $380,000, about $38 a year, Town Manager Peter Lukes told the 518 voters at the special town meeting before they OK\u2019d the appropriation part of the process.<\/p>\n<p>Actual figures could change, with the tax impact shifting from year to year based on the remaining balance.<\/p>\n<p>Use of other funds, such as ARPA money, could further reduce the price tag for taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>The project also builds in the use of nontaxpayer funds, including projected revenue from rental of fields and other sources, to trim the impact.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> HOLDEN &#8211; At the general election Nov. 8, town voters decided to fund a project to expand recreational facilities from fields to trails.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":96545,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_gspb_post_css":"","_sitemap_exclude":false,"_sitemap_priority":"","_sitemap_frequency":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-41403","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"blocksy_meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/41403","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=41403"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/41403\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/96545"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=41403"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=41403"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/devcherryroad.com\/news2\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=41403"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
