Join a worldwide organization, associated with Lions Clubs International with over 175,000 members in 7,000 clubs in 145 countries.

Some of the club’s accomplishments: Volunteering at Seven Hills; helping the visually impaired community with WALKFIT – learning how to guide and experience the world of the blind; being involved in school events, such as craft fairs; helping area seniors with outdoor projects such as raking and snow removal; cleanup projects at state parks and Clara Barton Diabetes Foundation camps; meeting other state Leos at an annual conference; collecting warm coats for refugees from Afghanistan; organizing and participating in a walk for Alzheimers.

The club is a social opportunity to meet and work with many of your schoolmates. It promotes leadership and an opportunity to share your leadership skills.

Public service is very important to all. Leos can lead to a lifetime of service in our towns and the world. There are many people who need a helping hand, and serving other can bring you a warm feeling that you have helped someone less fortunate than you.

The WRHS Leo Club meets every other Thursday morning at 7 a.m. There will be service projects throughout the year. The next meeting is Thursday, Oct. 20, in Room B108 at the high school Let’s make a difference in our school and community.

Hours spent in Leos count toward your National Honor Society’s Community Service requirement. Most colleges are looking for potential students who have given community service.

For more information, contact club president Morgan McClintock, a senior at WRHS; Mrs. Zingarella, teacher adviser; or Lion Robert Wilby, Leo adviser, Paxton Lions Club, at rwilby@charter.net.

WACHUSETT — Do you want to serve your community?
