HOLDEN — Mass Elite Football sent its 6th-, 7th- and 8th-grade allstar teams to the national recognized Football University Championship Final 8 in Naples, Florida, in December. Myles Figueroa, a 7th-grader from Holden, played for his second year on the Mass Elite Team.

HOLDEN — Being a goalkeeper, and bearing all the weight and responsibility that come with it, just isn’t for the faint of heart, experts say. There is stress aplenty, both physical and mental, that go into the job. It takes a special skillset to adjust to the rigors of the job. Those lacking need not apply.

SHREWSBURY — If it was prolific offense generated by two of this region’s most talented quarterbacks you wanted to see, then Shrewsbury High’s David J. Adams Memorial Field was the place to be on Thanksgiving morning 2022.

BOSTON — Thomas Anderson of Holden, an eighth-grader at Mountview Middle School, was selected to the Mass Bay Colonials boy’s lacrosse team that will travel to Houston, Texas, Dec. 10-11 to compete in the Best of Texas Lacrosse Tournament. Thomas was selected from more than 200 athletes from 125 town lacrosse programs from Central and Eastern Massachusetts.

HOLDEN — Think of spirited high school sports team rivalries in the region, and you almost always conjure up Wachusett Regional High versus Shrewsbury High in matchups that build off the respective teams’ intense competitiveness.

RUTLAND—TheSelectBoard approved Nov. 17 as the date for the special town meeting, the week before Thanksgiving, as has been the tradition for a number of years.
