HOLDEN — In medical terms, bilateral elbow osteochondritis is a condition whereby bone chips and deteriorated cartilage wreak havoc, causing severe pain that is most often debilitating. The path to curing such a condition is long and traumatic, as Wachusett Regional High School junior Elizabeth Cain can attest.

HOLDEN — A two-way basketball player is defined as a player who can proficiently play both offense and defense. They are sometimes referred to as “double trouble” because of their role in handling the offensive pressure while simultaneously preventing the other team from scoring. Players lacking the kind of talent and tenaciousness necessary for this role need not apply.

HOLDEN — Rarely does a matchup so close to New Year’s Day take on the importance as that of Wachusett Regional High School’s clash with visiting Leominster High on Jan. 10.

HOLDEN — Wachusett Regional High School’s Madison Grignon isn’t the first student-athlete to overcome adversity and turn it into positive gains, nor is she likely to be the last. But Grignon took a negative and quietly turned it into a positive, eventually earning herself the role of team co-captain for both the 2021 and 2022 Mountaineer girls’ varsity soccer team.
