Stelmach returns to Sterling to head SMLD

STERLING — Matt Stelmach recently took over as general manager of the Sterling Municipal Light Department, a move that he said “has honestly felt, to me, like coming home.” The former longtime town resident, who is looking to return to living in Sterling, officially took over the helm at SMLD on March 27, but he is no stranger to the light department and town workings. Stelmach was elected to the SMLD Board of Commissioners in 2009 and served three 3-year terms until 2018, six of those years as chair.

Rutland signs new TA contract

RUTLAND It’s official: Austin Cyganiewicz has taken the reins as Rutland’s new town administrator. The Select Board April 3 followed up its earlier selection for the position and voted to sign the contract, with Cyganiewicz starting April 18.

Bulger rucks to support veterans

RUTLAND — If you live in town or the surrounding area, chances are you’ve seen Cherilyn Bulger out rucking for a good cause. The 48-year-old took part in the annual 50 Mile Run Challenge fundraiser to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization near and dear to her heart.
