Huehls, Wilby re-elected in Paxton

PAXTON — Despite some contests in the May 8 town election, there will not be any changes on the Select Board or to the Paxton representative on the vocational school board. Kirk Huehls won re-election to the Select Board over William Trotta, 221-156.

Princeton voters approve questions restricting marijuana business

PRINCETON — Voters faced a ballot with no contests in the May 8 election, but three questions restricting marijuana cultivation, processing and manufacturing were decided. All three questions passed, prohibiting commercial cultivation, processing and/or manufacturing of marijuana in Residential-Agricultural districts and Business districts (Question One, passed 246 to 88), and in the Business-Industrial District (Question Two, passed 231 to 111); and regulating indoor commercial cultivation, processing and manufacturing of marijuana only for “medical purposes” in the Business-Industrial District (Question Three, passed 225 to 115).

Rutland voters complete override effort

RUTLAND — Voters had a lot of decisions to make as they went to the polls for the annual town election on May 8, the biggest being the $2 million Proposition 2½ override vote. The budget passed at the May 6 town meeting will stand, since voters approved the override, by a vote of 856 to 650.

Newman joining Sterling Select Board

STERLING — Sterling voters have spoken, choosing to put Kirsten Newman on the Select Board, after a tight race with Neil Lefebvre. Preliminary results from the town clerk have Newman outpacing Lefebvre, 180-175.
