Paxton Garden Club preps for plant sale

PAXTON — Members of the Paxton Garden Club are buzzing about like busy bees getting ready for the group’s second annual plant sale, coming up on June 3. This is the second plant sale organized by the relatively new club, which goes by the acronym PMAGC.

HOLDEN — Voters took care of business at the annual town meeting May 15, passing the town’s $62.4 million budget for the coming year. That included funding the town’s assessment for the Wachusett Regional School District.

REGION — With three of the five Wachusett Regional School District towns having approved the school budget and town assessments at their annual town meetings, the final votes will come in June. Holden approved its assessment May 15, Sterling on May 1 and Rutland on May 6, with its approval contingent on an override that passed in the town’s election.

MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS

HOLDEN — Holden’s annual Memorial Day parade starts at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 29. The parade stops first at St. Mary’s Cemetery, where Taps will be played. Next stop is Grove Cemetery, then Park Avenue Cemetery and Main Street Cemetery. Taps will be played at those cemeteries as well.
