Flood plain amendment unlikely to affect residents

HOLDEN — The meeting was short on March 27, but the Select Board action might be of interest to residents who learned they may see a new flood plain map in the future. Although there are likely to be few, if any, changes to who is in a flood plain, the impact could be higher insurance costs for flood insurance, Senior Civil Engineer Patrick Wood said.

Monty Tech receives $34K for school safety

BOSTON — Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School is one of 14 Massachusetts school districts to receive a grant to bolster school safety and enhance violence prevention efforts. The Healey-Driscoll administration has announced the award of more than $570,000 to the districts. The federal funding supports the development and operation of school threat assessments and crisis intervention teams.

King to compete for Wesleyan

Good Neighbor awards presented

HOLDEN — The Holden Democratic Town Committee presented its recipients of the annual Good Neighbor Award on March 23 at the Holden Senior Center. This year is the award’s 28th.
