Slow start won’t stop boys’ lacrosse

HOLDEN — Wachusett Regional High’s Anthony DelNegro notched a hat trick and teammate Matt Dickinson chipped in with a pair of goals, but it was not enough to stop visiting Groton-Dunstable who held on for the win, 11-6, on April 25. The loss dropped the Mountaineers’ record on the season to 2-6, but don’t count out this intrepid bunch that is anxious and has the skillset to reverse fortunes.

Sterling Senior Center art show opens

STERLING — The Senior Center Art Show, featuring K-8 student artists from Houghton Elementary School and Chocksett Middle School, opened Wednesday, May 10. Artwork is on display May and June at the Sterling Senior Center, 36 Muddy Pond Road.

HOLDEN — The Holden Garden Club’s annual plant sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Damon House, 1157 Main St. There will be a wide variety of area grown perennials, as well as variety six-packs of tomatoes, peppers and herbs. There will be gardening books available, a silent auction, and lots of club members ready to assist you.

Rutland voters complete override effort

RUTLAND — Voters had a lot of decisions to make as they went to the polls for the annual town election on May 8, the biggest being the $2 million Proposition 2½ override vote. The budget passed at the May 6 town meeting will stand, since voters approved the override, by a vote of 856 to 650.
