Paxton concerned about school septic costs

PAXTON — More questions emerged once Select Board members looked at the maintenance agreement the town has with the Wachusett Regional School District. Key among those questions is the condition and maintenance of the Paxton Center School’s septic system and what costs the town could be facing for any repairs.

Holden library’s cornerstone gets a makeover … in gold

HOLDEN — A prominent stone in the facade of the Gale Free Library in Holden has always announced the “Damon Memorial 1888,” noting when the structure was originally built. Donated in memory of the Damon family, the building has served the town as library, as well as, for many years early in its life, classrooms.

Documentary sparked idea for conservation club

STERLING — The Chocksett Middle School Conservation Club is still going strong five years after a former student watched a documentary about climate change and was moved to do something. Matthew Trombley, now a junior at Wachusett RegionalHighSchool,was that student.

AAA: Massachusetts Gas Prices Down 8 Cents

WESTWOOD — The average gaspriceinMassachusetts is down 8 cents from last week ($3.57), averaging $3.49 per gallon. Today’s price is 46 cents lower than a month ago ($3.95), and 39 cents higher than October 3, 2021 ($3.10). Massachusetts’ average gas price is 30 cents lower than the national average.

Festival of Forgotten Arts RUTLAND — The Rutland Historical Society is holdings its annual Fall Festival of the Forgotten Arts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, on the Rutland Town Common in front of the churches. Local crafters and artists of the forgotten arts will be demonstrating and sharing their unique talents. There will be children’s games and activities from the past, along with pumpkin carving and scarecrow making. Join in the fun of celebrating the autumn season.
