HOLDEN — Think of spirited high school sports team rivalries in the region, and you almost always conjure up Wachusett Regional High versus Shrewsbury High in matchups that build off the respective teams’ intense competitiveness.

On Sept. 16, the Wachusett Garden Club held a dinner for its members, an end of summer celebration, at the home of Carol Schrader and Erik Garcia in Princeton. Due to two years of limitations from COVID-19, we had not had a big social event and wanted to have a bash. Tents, tables, chairs and lights were assembled, and a catered dinner was delivered. Thirtyfour members and guests came to the dinner, and a great time was had by all.

David “Dave” Krashes Princeton - David “Dave” Krashes, 97, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 30, 2022. He was born and raised in Woodmere, NY, the son of David and Jennie (Goldman) Krashes and lived in Princeton for more than six decades.

HOLDEN — As Halloween decorations go up and trick-or-treaters discuss what costumes they will be wearing for the candy-collecting day, Holden is preparing its annual event that precedes the actual Oct. 31 activities.

PRINCETON — The “Town Buzz airs concerns about Public Safety Building, more” article in the Sept. 29 issue of The Landmark contained an inaccurate quotation/attribution. Holly Burgess, who is a former Advisory Committee committee member, did speak about the potential new Public Safety Building special town meeting warrant articles. However, she did not offer an opinion as to whether the issue should be separated into two articles — one for design and construction documents and one for construction costs. Burgess said she had no opinion on how the articles were written, but thought voters should know the full cost of what they were voting on before being asked to approve $1 million for design and construction documents.
