HOLDEN — The Holden Woman’s Club has announced the recipients of the organization’s $2,000 college scholarships.
Ella Hogan is the daughter of Christopher Hogan and Katey Palumbo, and Matthew Caliri is the son of Charles and Sarah Caliri. Both students are Holden residents and attend Wachusett Regional High School.

Ella Hogan has been a standout academically. She is a member of the National Honor Society for Spanish, math and science. She received the AP Scholar With Distinction Award from the college board, and she has received recognition as an influential woman in the community. Ella’s community service includes working with children with disabilities as part of the TOPS soccer program, tutoring underclassmen, and creating a National Campaign Against Domestic Violence. She plans to attend Cornell University and major in political science.
Matthew Caliri plans to attend Sacred Heart University and major in communication and sports broadcasting. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, and the honors jazz band and honors wind ensemble. As an athlete, Matthew has played both junior varsity and varsity soccer and baseball, coached an individual with special needs in the TOPS soccer program, and taught swimming at the YMCA. Matthew’s
community service has included donating time to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels.
The Holden Woman’s Club awards its $2,000 scholarship to a Holden graduating student who is continuing his/her education and best represents the goals and aspirations of the organization.
