Paxton gives People's Choice Award to two artists

PAXTON — Six Massasoit Art Guild members — Karen Farrell, Tom Gately, Maggie Hart, Mary Hollingsworth, Deborah Roberts Kirk and Richard Kirk — displayed three paintings each in the Paxton Council on Aging art gallery for more than two months. Visitors were encouraged to select the painting they felt should receive the 2024 People’s Choice Award. Voting continued throughout the entire display period.

The winning selection proved to be a tie between Jeanne’s Attic by Mary Hollingsworth and Island Refuge by Deborah Roberts Kirk.

Comments left by voters for all the artists included “a masterful use of oils and color,” “the impressionistic feel of the lake,” “great show” and gratitude for beautifying the Paxton Senior Center. The Paxton COA is very grateful for the colorful exhibit created by these talented artists and hopes to make the People’s Choice display an annual event.

The next art show to be exhibited in Paxton will be held from the end of February to the end of April, and consists of a mixed media display by Paxton residents.

All are welcome to view the gallery from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Artists wishing to participate should call the Paxton COA office at 508-756-2833 and leave their name and phone number.
