Holden Turkey Trot draws a crowd

HOLDEN — Almost 1,200 people registered for the Be Like Brit Foundation’s annual 5K Turkey Trot, held Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving).

Runners, strollers, canines, and costumed participants started a bit after 8 a.m., heading out on a new course this year, which began at 7 Saws Brewing Co., 12 Industrial Drive.

The weather was clear and brisk, with a light wind that gusted at times, threatening to carry off the timing arch. But helpful race watchers and volunteers kept the arch on the ground, even though a few runners had to duck underneath the wavering inflatable.

Family and friends cheered the participants on, and were there to encourage their last bursts of speed as they crossed the finish line.
