Princeton recognizes employees, volunteers

PRINCETON — Approximately 125 people attended the town of Princeton’s Employee and Volunteer Appreciation party at The Barn in Princeton on Wednesday, Nov. 15. This event took the place of the annual holiday party and put the focus where it belonged: On thanking employees, volunteers, and their spouses for working so hard for the town. The night concluded with recognition of several people and departments.

Jim Dunbar, town treasurer and collector, who will be retiring in December, was presented with a citation from state Rep. Kim Ferguson and a recognition award from the Select Board for many years of significant contributions. Police officers Holly Doyle, Travis Russell and Matthew Seymour were recognized for their outstanding efforts during a recent investigation that lead to the arrest of a suspect in several house breaks. At this year’s Northeast Public Power Association annual meeting, Sean McKeon, general manager of Princeton Municipal Light Department, received the Special Recognition Award, and Chris Courville, general foreman, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award

The Princeton Fire Department was congratulated on being selected for the Worcester County District Attorney’s Team Excellence and Merit award for the mountain rescue that was conducted during the blizzard of March 14. The Highway Department was thanked for its exceptional response during the flood on Sept. 11, keeping residents safe and getting our roads open as quickly as possible.

Members of the Select Board welcomed new staff at Town Hall: Linda Hetu, administrative assistant/Building Department; Louise Bowen, assistant to the town administrator; Police Chief Paul Patriarca; Town Clerk Alissa Horsung; Library Director Paula Korsvedt; and COA administrative assistant Kelly Aveni.

The Select Board thanks Gabi and Ryan Bennett, proprietors of The Barn, for the excellent food and accommodations provided for the celebration.
