Huehls, Wilby re-elected in Paxton

PAXTON – Despite some contests in the May 8 town election, there will not be any changes on the Select Board or to the Paxton representative on the vocational school board.

Kirk Huehls won re-election to the Select Board over William Trotta by a 221-to-156 tally.

Robert Wilby remains the town representative to the Southern Worcester County Regional Vocational School District (Bay Path), winning 223 votes over Jeff Cormier, who won 117 votes.

Uncontested positions were Glenn Sullivan for Board of Assessors (300 votes), Judy Hatstat for Board of Health (307), Gordon Edwards Snyder Jr. for Cemetery Commission (306), Patricia Dawson and Sandra Field as Library Trustees (302 and 293, respectively), Paul Ruane and Bennie Warren Jr. (284 and 296, respectively) as constables, Roger Brunelle as moderator (300), Michael Benoit for Municipal Light Board (309), Peter Schur for Planning Board (301), Jeffrey Cormier and Diane McMorrow for Recreation Commission (301 and 295), Karl Ottmar on the Wachusett Regional School District Committee (298), and John Malone to the Water Board (303).

There were no candidates on the ballot for the three-year term as Tree Warden, but there were 40 write-in votes in the official tallies. Huehls won with 14 votes, according to Town Clerk Laurie Becker. Becker said Huehls accepted the position and has been sworn in.

A total of 383 voters participated in the election, 10.8% of the 3,550 registered voters. Most (353) voted on election day.
