PAXTON — The town’s election ballot features one race this year, after the town caucus held March 6 set the preliminary list of candidates.
Two residents are seeking the seat on the Select Board: incumbent Kirk R. Huehls and challenger William A. Trotta.
Although someone can still get their name onto the ballot by submitting papers by March 20, the traditional caucus is an easier way for candidates to get onto the ballot for the May 8 election.
The slate after the caucus — and several people accepted their nomination although they were not in attendance — is: Select Board for a threeyear term: incumbent Kirk R. Huehls, William A. Trotta; Assessor, three-year term: Glenn M. Sullivan; Board of Health, threeyear term: incumbent Judy A. Hatstat; Cemetery Commission, three-year term: Gordon Snyder; Constable, two three-year terms: incumbents Bennie Peter Warren Jr. and Paul F. Ruane; Library Trustee, two threeyear terms: incumbents Patricia Dawson and Sandra M. Fields; Moderator, three-year term: incumbent Roger J. Brunelle; Municipal Light Board, three-year term: incumbent Michael J. Benoit; Planning Board, five-year term: Peter M. Schur; Recreation Commission, two three-year terms: incumbents Jeffrey Allen Cormier and Diane K. McMorrow; Southern Worcester County Regional Vocational School District (Bay Path) Committee: three-year term, incumbent Robert A. Wilby; Tree Warden, three-year term: No nominees; Wachusett Regional School District Committee, threeyear term: incumbent Karl Ottmar; and Water Board, three-year term: incumbent John F. Malone.
Any resident interested in being a candidate on the May 8 ballot can pull nomination papers. The deadline to obtain or submit nomination papers is March 20. For more information, call 508799-7347, ext. 13, or email lbecker@townofpaxton.net.
The 45 registered voters in attendance at the town caucus comprised 1.28% of the town’s 3,325 voters, Town Clerk Laurie Becker said.
