HOLDEN — The Corner Shop at the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main St., has two scholarship opportunities of $1,000 each available to any member of the communities served by The Corner Shop.
These scholarships are open to high school seniors and college students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited school or institution. If the scholarship is awarded to a high school senior, the $1,000 award will be given out after one completed semester of college with at least a 3.0 GPA.

The deadline for application submission is April 30, with awards made in June.
Marsh-Harding Scholarship RUTLAND — The Glenwood Elementary School PTO, Naquag Elementary School PTO, and Central Tree Middle School PTO are seeking applicants for the annual Marsh-Harding Scholarship. This scholarship is available to any graduating high school senior who has resided in Rutland for at least five years. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic standing, exceptional extracurricular involvement and leadership. Financial need may also be considered.
Interested students should submit a completed application, along with the required application essay, a copy of the student’s high school transcript, SAT scores, and a written recommendation from a teacher or principal, to Marsh-Harding Scholarship Committee, Naquag PTO, 285 Main St., Rutland, MA 01543. Students may obtain the scholarship application on the websites of the three schools.
The deadline to submit completed applications is May 12, 2023.
The Marsh-Harding Scholarship is given annually in memory of the two Rutland residents — past school principal Donald Marsh and student Robert “Pete” Harding — who were killed in the Tornado of ‘53.
Roland Card Memorial Foundation PAXTON — The first Roland Card Memorial Foundation Scholarship is being offered to two graduating high school seniors. Applicants must live in the Wachusett Regional/Worcester area and be entering college in the fall to further their education.
Roland was a soccer coach for more than 15 years, was president of Mountain Soccer Club and served on the board of Paxton Youth Soccer for many years. The foundation would like to award two $1,000 scholarships to students who love the game of soccer as he did.
Scholarships will also be awarded on the basis of academics, community and school involvement, and financial need. Students can use common scholarship applications available at their high school guidance office. Paxton Woman’s Club
PAXTON — The Paxton Woman’s Club is offering two $1,000 scholarships for graduating Paxton high school seniors.
An applicant must be a Paxton resident, must be a high school senior graduating this year, and must be pursuing their education at a college or an institute of higher vocational training. To apply, complete the Common App, available at https://www.paxtonwomansclub. com/home and from your high school guidance office, and send it along with two letters of recommendation (one must be from a teacher) and a copy of your high school transcript. Holden Grange
HOLDEN — Holden Grange is offering its W. Sumner and Howard L. Jordan Scholarship in the amount of $800 to a graduating high school senior or a student in attendance at any recognized institution of learning beyond high school who has not received this scholarship previously.
An applicant who does not belong to Holden Grange must reside in Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland or Sterling and be pursuing a course of study in agriculture/horticulture, veterinary science or conservation/ environment. A Holden Grange member in good standing for at least one year preceding the date of application is eligible to pursue any course of study.
The scholarship recipient will be named in June, and funds will be awarded to the applicant upon successful completion of the first semester with at least a 3.0 grade point average.
An application in the form of a letter of intent, stating future educational goals and a description of three community activities or three Grange activities in which the applicant is involved, must be accompanied by an official transcript and a letter of recommendation. Friends of the Richards Memorial Library PAXTON — The Friends of the Richards Memorial Library is offering a $1,000 Creativity Counts scholarship to a Paxton resident pursuing additional education through a college, university or trade school. The scholarship is open to high school seniors as well as adult students currently in school.
Along with a statement about how the student has been inspired by a book, author, or written word, applicants must provide a project supporting their statement in the form of an essay, poem, artwork, photograph, or any other creative representation.
The application deadline is June 1, 2023. To apply, students should pick up the application at their high school guidance office or at the Richards Memorial Library. It can also be found on the library website, rmlpaxton.org. The application can be mailed to the Richards Memorial Library in Paxton, 44 Richards Ave., Paxton, MA 01612 or delivered to the library during operating hours. The winner of the grant will be announced by the end of June 2023.
Village Green Preschool
STERLING — The Village Green Preschool in Sterling is offering its 19th annual scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior who attended VGP and plans to attend a two- or four-year accredited college or university.
Applications are available in the guidance department of local high schools. They are also available via email from the preschool office. Completed applications must be postmarked by April 1. Oriol Foundation memorial
HOLDEN — The Oriol Foundation, a nonprofit organization created by the Oriol family, is proud to offer the Eugene L. Oriol Memorial Scholarship to the Wachusett community. This $1,000 scholarship will be offered to any graduating senior in the Wachusett district towns, as well as Boylston and West Boylston, who will be pursuing a degree in health care.

Paxton Lions Club
PAXTON — The Paxton Lions Club is again offering the Robert J. Zoppo Memorial Scholarship to graduating high school seniors. Whether the student anticipates entering a college, a university, a technical school or any other educational pursuit beyond high school, and if they have been a resident of Paxton for at least one year, the Paxton Lions Club would like to offer the opportunity to compete for this scholarship.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academics, community and school involvement, and need. The scholarship will be paid upon the successful completion of the first semester. The student should use the common scholarship form available at your high school guidance office, or obtained by contacting a Lions Scholarship Committee member (508-798-5092). A copy of the student’s transcript and at least one teacher recommendation must be included with the application.
The application deadline is Friday, April 21, 2023. Applications should be mailed to Paxton Lions Scholarship Committee, 3 Nipmuc Road, Paxton, MA 01612.
Wachusett Area Chamber HOLDEN — The Wachusett Area Chamber of Commerce will offer up to two $2,500 scholarships this year to qualified graduating seniors living in the Wachusett area. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be planning to pursue business studies as fulltime students at a two- or fouryear college and reside in one of the chamber’s service area towns, which include: Boylston, Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland, Sterling and West Boylston. Applicants with exceptional community service may also be considered for the Brian R. Forts Memorial Scholarship, which comes with an additional award.
The scholarship application can be obtained from the Guidance Department at area high schools and is available at www.wachusettareachamber. org. Students are asked to mail the completed application, along with the required information, to the Wachusett Area Chamber of Commerce, 1174 Main St., Holden, MA 01520. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2023. The winners will be announced prior to high school graduation, and the awards will be given out at the Wachusett Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting in June.
The Chamber will host events throughout the year to fund this program, including the Scholarship Scramble golf tournament scheduled for Monday, May 23, at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston. Holden Woman’s Club
HOLDEN — The Holden Woman’s Club has announced that applications are available for its 2023 scholarships.
This year the organization will be awarding two scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, to two graduating high school seniors. Applicants must be residents of Holden, or a child or grandchild of a Holden Woman’s Club member, and must plan to attend an institution of higher learning.
