Cookie season

REGION — It’s Girl Scout cookie season, if you hadn’t already noticed. Time to get your annual fix of Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs and more, and stash some in the freezer to tide you over until next year.

The Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts are deep into the annual affair. From the youngest to the oldest Girl Scouts, girls are offering cookie booths in the next few weeks.

The Girl Scouts want everyone to know that “all proceeds stay local to help fund life-changing, girl-led programs, experiences, and learning all year long in your area.” The cookie program helps Girl Scouts “gain the business smarts and confidence to take on the world, one cookie at a time,” according to the GSCWM website.

Your Landmark editor visited a Holden Brownies troop on Feb. 11 at Rocky’s Ace Hardware on Reservoir Street and spent entirely too much money on perennial favorites. She reports that the new S’mores cookies are quite tasty as well, and the Adventurefuls are nummy, too. Unfortunately, the new Raspberry Rally cookies were not available. A troop representative says they are online only in this area.
