Hey Day returns to Wachusett Meadow

PRINCETON — It was a bright sunny day, with a strong breeze at times, on Saturday, Sept. 24, when Hey Day returned to Wachusett Meadow. As the parking field slowly filled up with visitors, the sound of live music filled the air. The children’s area filled up first, with youngsters working on their nail pounding skills, painting pumpkins, exploring the mini maze, having their faces painted, and creating huge bubbles with hula hoops.

Some visitors headed out on the trails, passing the sheep grazing in the field as they worked their way toward canoes on the lake. Others browsed local vendors offering goat milk soap, vegetable- dyed bags and soaps, bee products, apple cider, cheese, and more. Others grabbed a sandwich or snack and sat at a picnic table enjoying the view. Many waited patiently for their turn to climb aboard for a hayride around the sanctuary.

All in all, it was a beautiful day to be out in nature, and the happy return of a tradition.
