PRINCETON — Voters are now set to tackle town business in the annual legislative session on Tuesday, June 11.
The May 1 meeting of the Select Board moved the town meeting to June 11 at 6 p.m. at Thomas Prince School, 170 Sterling Road. The meeting was originally scheduled for May 14.
The delay will allow the officials more time to put the final budget together, complete the warrant for the town meeting and prepare and present informational sessions.
The spring meeting is where much of the key town business is done, with voters deciding major aspects of town governance, especially the town budget, but also items such as bylaws and capital expenses.
A final budget presentation is slated for a virtual meeting Tuesday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m.
The Advisory Committee’s budget hearing will be held virtually on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m.
The Select Board budget vote will come on Wednesday, May 22, in a 3 p.m. virtual meeting.
A pre-town meeting Open House will be held Thursday, May 23, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Community/Senior Center, Post Office Place, 206 Worcester Road.
The annual town meeting warrant is planned to be set by the Select Board at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, in a virtual meeting and in the Annex meeting room.
The town calendar includes the May 13 town election, with two contests on the ballot. Polls are open from noon to 8 p.m. at the Thomas Prince School.
Incumbent Karen Cruise and Edwin Carlson are vying for the three-year Select Board seat.
Incumbent Dana Lorway and Stephanie Jordan are running for the single town three-year seat on the Wachusett Regional School District Committee.
Voters will also decide a referendum question on accepting the state provisions indemnifying municipal officers, elected or appointed, from personal financial loss if acting within the official scope of their duties.
