DAR visits Gale

HOLDEN — Members of the Capt. John Joslin Jr. chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution DAR paid a visit to the Gale Free Library during the second week of April, in honor of National Library Week.

They delivered thank-you kits filled with treats, muffins, and handwritten thank-you cards, a thoughtful gesture that Chapter Regent Sharon Bouchard said was a first for them. Two of the five dozen chapter members live in Holden, one of three towns in the region that they visited.

Bouchard said they wanted to provide tokens of gratitude to the hardworking library staff members who help to provide a wide variety of services and programming to the community.

“They were surprised at first,” she said of Gale library staff’s reaction. “They appreciated the gesture.”

Bouchard went on to say that it was important for the chapter to recognize library staff during the week of April 7.

“The library is a valuable resource, and we must say thank you to the people who make our libraries thrive,” she said. “One of the DAR’s three pillars is education, which is in alignment with library activities, so we felt it was important to reach out and let the library staff know they are appreciated.
