Rutland special elections slated

RUTLAND — Rutland will hold two special elections this fall to fill the vacated seat of Sen. Anne Gobi, who resigned in June.

The Special Primary Election will be held Tuesday, Oct. 10, with the Special Election following on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The last day to register to vote prior to the Primary Election is Saturday, Sept. 30. You can register online at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/ (a confirmation notice will be mailed) or go to https://www.sec.state.ma.us/divisions/elections/languages/register-by-mail-forms.htm to download a mail-in voter registration form. Return the form to 250 Main St. either by mail, in person or via the large Town Clerk ballot drop box.

For an Early Vote By Mail Application, go to https://www.townofrutland.org/sites/g/files/vyhlif1156/f/uploads/2023votebymailapp_sp_elec_revised.pdf. Unenrolled (Independent) voters must choose either a Republican, Democratic or Libertarian Ballot for the Primary. The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2. Application forms may be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office, 250 Main St., Rutland, MA or dropped off in the large ballot drop box in front of Community Hall.

In-Person Early Voting will not be available for the special elections.
