WORCESTER — On Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts is holding auditions for the 16th annual production of A Christmas Carol and the stunning ballet The Nutcracker.
Auditions for youth roles in A Christmas Carol, generously sponsored by Assumption University, will be held from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 10. Auditions will take place by appointment at The Hanover Theatre Conservatory and Event Center, 551 Main St. Children age 5 and older are welcome to sign up. Youth performers with South Asian heritage are encouraged to audition for the Cratchit Family. All auditioners should prepare a set of provided sides and a brief song, such as one verse of Deck the Halls. Auditioners may choose to complete a self-tape, which must be submitted by 2 p.m. Sept. 10. Some roles may be invited to callbacks on Monday, Sept. 11 (in-person or virtual).

Auditions for production of The Nutcracker, generously sponsored by Berkshire Bank, will also be held on Sunday, Sept. 10, on The Hanover Theatre’s main stage, 2 Southbridge St.
Auditions will be split by age group: 9-11 a.m.: Ages 13 and older; 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Ages 10-12; and 1:15-3 p.m.: Ages 7-9.
Dancers auditioning must be registered online for auditions, available to attend all of production week (Nov. 18-26) and be at least 7 years of age. Auditions will follow the structure of a technical ballet class. Dancers will be assessed by technique, skill level and ability. Dancers with two or more years of training should bring their pointe shoes. Callback sessions will be held later in the afternoon on Sept. 10, so prepare accordingly.
