RUTLAND — The circus is coming to Rutland, joining other activities visitors might normally see at Lilac Hedge Farm.
The Stars above circus will be at the farm July 21 through 23.
“We are eager to present Stars Above to Rutland this summer,” said Lyndsay Aviner, circus director. “This season, we have further diversified our lineup, introducing exhilarating acts such as an extraordinary roller-skating duo and a beautiful acrobatic bicycle act.”
Stars Above is billed as “an all-ages production that seamlessly blends contemporary and traditional circus arts. The performance, delivered by an international cast of skilled performers, unfolds on a custom-built circular stage and aerial rig, beneath the vast expanse of the sky.”
From acrobatics to storytelling, the circus will perform in open air, with refreshments available at the farm bar, kitchen and ice cream stand and visits with the animals.
The open-air, family-friendly circus has three tiers of seating: General Admission, where spectators can bring their own portable chair or blanket; Premium Seating, providing a comfortable outdoor spectator lawn chair; and the VIP Experience, which offers center-front seating with the most comfortable chairs. Ticket prices range from $25 to $65.
Lilac Hedge Farm is located at 216 Wachusett Street. Showtimes are Friday, July 21, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, July 22, at 4 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, July 23 at 1 and 4 p.m. Tickets for the Rutland performances are now available at starsabovecircus.com.
“Our performances in Rutland are hosted by Lilac Hedge Farm, a local destination that’s made a name for itself since its opening just two years ago,” the circus said of the farm, which has hosted other events, including live music performances, for the community.
“Although they’ve been well known as farmers that set themselves apart as caretakers committed to stewardship beyond their farm gate, their Rutland farm is still relatively new to the local community.”
Lilac Hedge Farm has a farmstand that acts as a year-round farmers market as well as an ice cream scoop shop, a kitchen that showcases pasture-raised proteins, and a farm kitchen featuring dozens of local breweries, wineries, cideries and more.
