Paxton voters to decide Select Board race

PAXTON — Voters will choose between two residents who are seeking the seat on the Select Board at the May 8 annual town election: incumbent Kirk R. Huehls and challenger William A. Trotta.

The slate of candidates, chosen at the traditional town caucus, consists mostly of incumbents seeking to continue their service on town boards.

Select Board for a 3-year term: incumbent Kirk R. Huehls and William A. Trotta;

Assessor, 3-year term: Glenn M. Sullivan;

Board of Health, 3-year term: incumbent Judy A. Hatstat;

Cemetery Commission, 3-year term: Gordon Snyder;

Constable, two 3-year terms: incumbents Bennie Peter Warren Jr. and Paul F. Ruane;

Library Trustee, two 3-year terms: incumbents Patricia Dawson and Sandra M. Fields;

Moderator, 3-year term: incumbent Roger J. Brunelle;

Municipal Light Board, 3-year term: incumbent Michael J. Benoit;

Planning Board, 5-year term: Peter M. Schur; Recreation Commission, two 3-year terms: incumbents Jeffrey Allen Cormier and Diane K. McMorrow;

Southern Worcester County Regional Vocational School District (Bay Path) Committee, 3-year term: incumbent Robert A. Wilby and challenger Jeff W. Cormier. Cormier did not attend the caucus, but he pulled nomination papers and obtained the required number of signatures to be on the ballot.

Tree Warden, 3-year term: no nominees;

Wachusett Regional School District School Committee, 3-year term; incumbent Karl Ottmar; and

Water Board, 3-year term: incumbent John F. Malone.

The election will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 8 at the Paxton Center School gymnasium.

The last day to register to vote in the election is April 28, when the town clerk’s office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for voter registration.

There will be an early voting option using Vote by Mail, with information and application on the town clerk’s website; Early Vote by Mail ballot applications are due by 5 p.m. May 1. Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. May 8 (election day).

Early voting in person is scheduled for April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The annual town meeting, usually held a week before the election, has been postponed to June 5.
