Deadlines approach for these scholarships

HOLDEN — This year three $1,000 awards are being offered in the 30th year of the Jason Bradshaw Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is in memory of Jason, a member of WRHS class of 1990.

The scholarships will be awarded to three graduating students who have persevered through health, learning or other challenges and are continuing their education. Preference will be given to candidates in 504 or on IEP plans. Candidates are asked to fill out the common scholarship application and focus their essay on obstacles that they have had to overcome and on their desire to continue their education.

Return completed applications on or before April 7, 2023, to Ms. Shanna Hauver, Department Head, Special Education, Wachusett Regional High School.

Roland Card Memorial Foundation

PAXTON—ThefirstRoland Card Memorial Foundation Scholarship is being offered to two graduating high school seniors. Applicants must live in the Wachusett Regional/ Worcester area and be entering college in the fall to further their education.

Roland was a soccer coach for more than 15 years, was president of Mountain Soccer Club and served on the board of Paxton Youth Soccer for many years. The foundation would like to award two $1,000 scholarships to students who love the game of soccer as he did.

Scholarships will also be awarded on the basis of academics, community and school involvement, and financial need. Students can use common scholarship applications available at their high school guidance office. Oriol Foundation memorial

HOLDEN The Oriol Foundation, a nonprofit organization created by the Oriol family, is proud to offer the Eugene L. Oriol Memorial Scholarship to the Wachusett community. This $1,000 scholarship will be offered to any graduating senior in the Wachusett district towns, as well as Boylston and West Boylston, who will be pursuing a degree in health care.

Eugene Oriol was the founder and first administrator of Holden Nursing Home. Applications may be obtained by visiting our website at www.oriolhealthcare. com under the Oriol Foundation tab or by emailing scholarship@oriolhealthcare. com. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2023.

The Oriol Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including, but not limited to, enriching the lives of those who deliver this care; to promote wellness and stimulate innovations in health care so all may live more independently and safely wherever they call home in the Wachusett community.

Paxton Lions Club

PAXTON — The Paxton Lions Club is again offering the Robert J. Zoppo Memorial Scholarship to graduating high school seniors. Whether the student anticipates entering a college, a university, a technical school or any other educational pursuit beyond high school, and if they have been a resident of Paxton for at least one year, the Paxton Lions Club would like to offer the opportunity to compete for this scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academics, community and school involvement, and need. The scholarship will be paid upon the successful completion of the first semester. The student should use the common scholarship form available at your high school guidance office, or obtained by contacting a Lions Scholarship Committee member (508798-5092). A copy of the student’s transcript and at least one teacher recommendation must be included with the application.

The application deadline is Friday, April 21, 2023. Applications should be mailed to Paxton Lions Scholarship Committee, 3 Nipmuc Road, Paxton, MA 01612.

Holden Woman’s Club HOLDEN — The Holden Woman’s Club has announced that applications are available for its 2023 scholarships.

This year the organization will be awarding two scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, to two graduating high school seniors. Applicants must be residents of Holden, or a child or grandchild of a Holden Woman’s Club member, and must plan to attend an institution of higher learning.

Applications are available at the guidance office of Wachusett Regional High School, at the reference desk at the Gale Free Library, or by emailing carrollmaryjane2@gmail.com. Completed applications must be received by April 25, 2023.
