PRINCETON — Public safety personnel from Princeton and the surrounding area participated in Tactical Emergency Response Training the weekend of March 18-19 at Thomas Prince School.
Attendees were trained and certified in response training that will help them provide critical care for emergency situations such as treating gunshot and stab wounds, rapid extrication measures, tactical gear and emergency medical procedures to reduce casualties in an active shooter event.
The 16-hour program will certify participants to become instructors in the “Stop the Bleed” programs. “Stop the Bleed” is an American College of Surgeons program to educate people worldwide to respond to serious injury. Certification of participants in the weekend program exceeds federal standards for public safety personnel.
Princeton fire and police, Rutland police and Wachusett Regional School District nurses participated in the weekend program.
“This is the first of many programs we will sponsor in keeping our community and surrounding communities safe,” Princeton Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director John D. Bennett said.
