Nomination papers available for Rutland election

RUTLAND — Potential candidates for office in the May 8 town election need to take out nomination papers by March 16 and return them by March 20.

The papers are available from the clerk’s office, according to Town Clerk Anita Carlson, and must be returned with 42 signatures of registered town voters, although more are recommended in case some do not qualify.

The following town positions will be filled at the annual town election, slated for Monday, May 8: Moderator: one year, currently held by Randy Jordan; Select Board: two threeyear seats, currently held by Leroy Clark and Lyndon Nichols; Board of Assessors: one three-year seat, currently held by Arthur Lincoln; Board of Health: one three-year seat, currently held by Marilyn Sidoti; Planning Board: one five-year seat currently held by Elliot Nadeau Jr.; and Library Board of Trustees: two threeyear seats currently held by Tressa Santillo and William Brazeau.

This is an off year for both the Wachusett and Bay Path School Committees, so no candidates for those committees will appear on the ballot this year, Carlson said.

When the final ballot list is set, voters will be able to vote in person May 8 or request a mail-in ballot; voters can also request a mailin ballot using a form on the town clerk’s website.

For more information, visit the town website under News and on the Town Clerk Department page.

The town clerk’s office at 250 Main Street is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Prospective candidates who are not able to pick up nomination papers during regular office hours may contact the clerk’s office at anitacarlson@ townofrutland. org or 508-886-4100, ext. 3009.
