STERLING — Casella Waste began delivery of the new trash and recycling totes to homes on Monday Sept. 12. Each single family home and multifamily home containing three units or less based on the accessors’ database will receive one set of totes per home or unit. The delivery company is going to begin delivery on Monday’s route and work its way through the week. Delivery is expected to take eight-10 days total, so not every home will receive their totes the day of or day after their pickup day.
If you feel that you should have received more than one set of totes and did not, contact the DPW office at 978-4226767. The DPW will investigate the circumstances and get back to you. Residents may use their new totes as they would their existing trash and recycling receptacles until the official start of the automated pickup on Monday, Sept. 26. Beginning on the 26th, all trash must be in the 65 gallon tote and all recyclables in the 95 gallon tote for pickup.
New recycling week calendars will be delivered in the mail to residents prior to the 26th; the calendars will list your recycling week based on your street.
A select number of residents will also see a change in their trash and recycling pickup day. Casella will be notifying those residents directly.
The DPW asks for residents’ patience as the new program is rolled out.
If you have any questions, call the Sterling Department of Public Works at 978-422-6767.
